Press Release: Olympic rowers competing on the Amstel River.

The Heineken Roeivierkamp rowing regatta takes place for the 45th time on March 11th and 12th 2017. With 3,500 participants from all over the world and 10,000 spectators, the Heineken regatta is the largest rowing regatta of the Netherlands. It is the traditional start of the Dutch rowing season where the elite crews will compete against each other for the first time of the year.

The Heineken Roeivierkamp (also known as ‘H4K’) is celebrating its 45th anniversary! This unique rowing regatta takes place on the river Amstel on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th of March. The regatta consists of two long distances and two sprints. All the distances are important for the final result, so crews can fight to win the overall competition on every distance. This causes excitement throughout the whole weekend for both competitors and spectators.

Every year, crews from all over the world come to Amsterdam to join the competition. This year there will be crews from France, the U.S., Belgium, Germany, the U.K., Italy, Norway and even Russia. The Dutch elite will also compete on the River Amstel, including many Olympians.

This year we turned the finish area into an arena. Visitors can watch the races from both sides of the River Amstel. On the boulevard at the Weesperzijde there are possibilities to buy food and drinks. The large LED-screen informs the spectators about the races further along the river Amstel.

We would love to welcome you at the Heineken Roeivierkamp! We recommend to visit the event on Saturday or Sunday between 3pm and 6pm, when the national and international elite crews are rowing their races.
