Rowing Videos Of The Week: UCD Rowers Take Down Rivals from Trinity on the Liffey

Last weekend, the River Liffey played host to the annual Colours Boat Races, pitting University College Dublin against traditional rivals, Trinity.
And, in 2016, the Colours were blue and gold.
Not only did the UCD women take back the Corcoran Cup (the varsity level women's eight event), but also the varsity men from UCD edged a tough Trinity crew that held on gamely all the way through to the end, on the way to a Gannon Cup victory.
These results marked a departure, to say the least, from last year's racing, which saw Trinity sweep UCD across all four events (including the two novice eights). In fact, only a victory by the Trinity novice men saved Trinity from a clean sweep by UCD in 2016—what a different a year makes.
Hats off to the coxswains from all crews for handling some very tricky conditions—not to mention narrow archways, made more so by that spring tide!
You can check out a full write-up of the events via the University Times, Ireland here, and watch videos from the 2014 Gannon and Corcoran Cups here.
