Friday-Edition Video Of The Week: Marin Rowing Association Season Preview
Marin Rowing, 2015-2016 Preview (Screen capture) |
This week's featured video comes to us from Marin Rowing Association, and offers a quick window into their early season preparation and program outlook for the 2015-2016 season.
Last year, Marin had another solid campaign, particularly on the men's side, coming within roughly one second of defending their Head Of The Charles title in the fall, and narrowly edging Oakland at San Diego Crew Classic, before taking second in their region, and later fourth overall in the varsity eight at USRowing Youth Nationals.
Their first major test of the season will come next weekend at the 51st Head Of The Charles Regatta in Boston, where they will face off once again with regional rivals and defending champions Oakland, as well as Community Rowing, Inc., coming off a season where they took bronze at the national level in the varsity eight (and earned the prestigious RoRy Award for Breakthrough Performance of the Year). And there will be no shortage of speed in the Men's Youth Eight event—at time of writing, there are no fewer than 85 entries ready to race the Charles this year (for a full list of entries, follow this link to RegattaCentral).
Much more to come about the 51st Head Of The Charles Regatta in the next few days, as the excitement in Boston reaches 'fever pitch,' and we gear up to cover the regatta for ROWING Magazine.
