Weekend Race Videos: Watch Princeton Men's and Women's Varsity Crews Take on Navy, Columbia

The 2015 rowing season is really heating up, and this weekend has been full of dual and championship racing, from Henley-on-Thames to the coast of California. Here, we take a look at some of the action on Carnegie Lake in New Jersey, where the Princeton Tigers faced off against Columbia and Navy on Saturday.

First, we take a look at the Princeton Lightweight men taking on Columbia and Navy. Princeton showed great speed at the Charles, but starting the spring we gave Columbia a slight edge over the Tigers in our preseason rankings. That edge showed on Carnegie Lake on Saturday, with the Lions defeating Princeton in difficult conditions by roughly nine seconds (see video above).

It was a different story for the Tiger women's open squad (our preseason no. 5) against Columbia, however. Lori Dauphiny's Princeton varsity eight showed their class, winning by 13.5 seconds—a performance that was reflected throughout the dual for Princeton, as they swept the Lions on the Tigers' home water.

And finally, the Tiger heavyweight men (our preseason no. 4) squared off against Navy (RR preseason no. 9), fresh off the Midshipmen's trip to Crew Classic. The return to the East Coast saw Navy suffer defeats in the varsity, second varsity, and third varsity, but, as is typically the case with Navy, their excellent program depth was on display as they won the fourth and fifth varsity eight events over the Tigers.

Keep an eye on our Rankings page for updated rankings, race previews, and recaps as the season progresses. You can see more videos from the weekend in Princeton via the Tigers' YouTube Channel.
